Tecrostar mezzanines and stairs are supplied with everything you need to install the kit at its maximum surface area or height.
Personalised phone or email service from our specialists
To install Tecrostar mezzanines you need 2 adults (they do not need to be DIY experts). It is recommendable to use personal safety equipment like gloves, boots, etc. in order to avoid accidents.
When installing range L mezzanines you may need to use some type of scaffolding or ladder for working at heights and manual or electric lifting machinery to raise the primary beams, particularly if the structure is more than 3m high. The other ranges can be lifted easily by hand.
You will need the following tools to install the mezzanines: tape measure, some type of spanner for m10 and m8 bolts and a screwdriver (an electric screwdriver will make the task much easier), spirit level, drill and a tool for cutting the panels (saw, jigsaw, circular saw, etc.)
You can find all the tools required to assemble it and tested by Tecrostar in the tools section.
All the models are installed by following these steps:
Pre-assemble the structure on the floor in the desired area.
Raise the outer structure to the desired height.
Finish assembling the structure and floor.
Once the product has left our facilities, the normal transport time is between 6 and 8 weeks. The transport time varies greatly and is difficult to control due to many factors: Place of delivery, local holidays, customs, etc.

Yes, you can. As they are manufactured with light steel profiles with a high yield point they are very light and the load per column is very low. The only restriction is the storage load on the mezzanine: instead of 40.96lb/ft², it may be reduced to 1764lb for the whole mezzanine. A home with a concrete structure usually supports a point load of at least 441lb on a surface of 2x2". The T8 mezzanine weighs 439lb and the T15 mezzanine weighs 785lb, both weights are distributed over 4 columns. You can install either of these two metal mezzanines in your home, provided that the load stored on them is limited. Ask Tecrostar about the specific features of your project.
Yes, it does. They are structural boards made of 18mm thick european radiata pine plywood. They have tongue-and-groove joints in their four sides.
Length: 81 7/8"
Width: 24"
Thickness: 3/4"
Yes, our products can be installed outdoors, although you should bear in mind a series of special considerations and carry out maintenance of the material to guarantee that they are in good condition. See this section for more details

This treatment provides the steel pieces an additional protection that increases their durability in weather conditions that cause corrosion.
It consists of a cold-dip galvanizing or electrolytic zinc coating, whereby the steel pieces are covered with a thin zinc layer, between 8 and 15 um, in a low temperature bath. Subsequently, it is added a passivation using chromium that increases the protection and, finally, a sealing is made.
This zinc coating process differs from cold-dip galvanizing and avoids the pieces from deformation by heat and their holes from blockage, providing a much softer and more appropriate finish for the use of Tecrostar products.
After applying the zinc coating, the pieces are lacquered with the high-quality standard process typical of Tecrostar, with powder-coating paint, to obtain a perfect finish in the colour desired by the customer, also increasing the corrosion protection by creating a barrier (steel + zinc plating + lacquering).
With the TecroStar waterproof steel treatment, a high level of protection is achieved on steel parts, obtaining the following rating:
Corrosivity category C4 with Low durability.
Corrosivity category C3 with Medium durability
Corrosivity category C2 with High durability
Durability is obtained by testing the parts according to the criteria of the European Standard EN ISO 12944. The standard indicates that durability is NOT a "warranty period". Durability is a technical consideration that can help the owner to establish a maintenance programme. That is, tests are performed for a given number of hours under uniform conditions applied to smooth surfaces. The reality is that climatic and environmental conditions are highly variable.
Durability | Period |
Low | 2 to 5 years |
Medium | 5 to 15 years |
High | More than 15 years |
It should be taken into consideration that the guarantee of our treatments is given on the basis of laboratory conditions, which are the hours without rust appearing in a salt fog chamber, but every real location may imply a different kind of exposure. Therefore, we provide an extract from the European standard EN ISO 12944 of May 1998 "Protection of steel structures against corrosion by means of protective paint systems", where you can see some examples of typical environments.
Corrosivity Categories | Examples of typical environments in a warm weather (informative) | |
Exterior | Interior | |
C1 Very Low | --- | Heated buildings with clean atmospheres, e.g. offices, shops, schools, hotels |
C2 Low | Atmospheres with low level of pollution: mostly non-coastal rural areas | Unheated buildings where condensation can occur, e.g., depots, sports halls |
C3 Medium | Urban and industrial atmospheres, moderate sulfur dioxide pollution; coastal areas with low salinity | Production rooms with high humidity and some air pollution, e.g., food-processing plants, laundries, breweries, dairies |
C4 High | Industrial areas and coastal areas with moderate salinity | Chemical plants, swimming pools, coastal ship- and boatyards |
C5-I Very High (Industrial) | Industrial areas with high humidity and aggressive atmosphere | Buildings or areas with almost permanent condensation and with high pollution |
When visual inspection indicates that touch-up painting is required, close attention should be paid to any edges or corners that may show the beginnings of rust and loss of gloss. It is recommended to polish these areas to remove the rust and then apply the paint. The edges of steel parts are most prone parts to corrosion and where rust first appears, in fact, these areas are not evaluated in the salt fog tests, as they are not covered by the standard.
You can install a Tecrostar mezzanine without any construction work or special tools. You can install it yourself easily and safely. The most outstanding feature of the kits is that one structure can have multiple height, width and length configurations. They are mezzanines in kits, in modules, adjustable, extendable and customisable. The following demo videos show how they work.
After understanding how they work, the next thing you need to do is choose the structure that best suits your needs. To do this, we shall focus on the height at which you want to assemble your mezzanine. There are 4 ranges according to the height and each range has various mezzanines according to the surface area:
“S” Range- From 63" to 91 6/8" high
Perfect for making a mezzanine, loft bed, a modern micro-loft in the home or office or for creating a small storage space in the garage or attic.
“M” Range- From 67 3/4" to 110 3/4" high
Perfect for creating a small office, living room or storage space in a garage or a warehouse.
“L” Range- From 82 1/4" to 134 5/8" high
Much more than a mezzanine. For large spaces in work areas or light storage.
“XL” Range- From 92 1/2" to 149 1/2" high
Mezzanine for industrial use, it enables pallet jacks and shelving units to be used.
We might have various models of mezzanine that meet the dimensions you need. In this case, follow these criteria:
1- Load-bearing capacity
2- Maximum span (distance between columns)
3- Beam height
4- Height of the mezzanine above the decking you need
Tecrostar mezzanines and stairs are supplied with everything you need to install the kit at its maximum surface area or height.
Personalised phone or email service from our specialists
It will be delivered in one or various boxes, depending on the order (check this section to see the dimensions of the boxes). The box contains everything you need to assemble it at its maximum height and surface area.
No, it is not a customised mezzanine but its telescopic design enables an almost customised finish. This system is length and height adjustable, achieving the preferred measurements. The components are small and light (less than 94 1/2") and are easy to transport, in lifts, fitting through doors or windows to the place of installation, as the beams are spliced in the middle.
The mezzanine can be adjusted from its minimum values to its maximum values at these intervals.
A: adjustable every 4 3/4"
B: adjustable every 3 7/8"
C: adjustable every 3 7/8"
The metallic Tecrostar mezzanines of the S, M and L ranges support a uniformly distributed load of 40,96 lb/ft² (that means that you can place a 40,96 lb distributed load on each square ft). This is the live load for residential uses according to the international regulations. The total maximum load will be 40,96 lb by the ft² of the mezzanine.
The steel pieces of the structures, railing posts and stringers of the stairs are available in:
Black and white. Available in stock without additional costs.
In both cases the paint is a lacquer with maximum adhesion applied by electrostatic process with polyester powder paint, suitable for outdoors.

All TecroStar railings are designed for installation on our mezzanines. The Railing with safety skirting board XL is the most recommended for installation on other surfaces.
This is not recommended, as to cover a space with reduced height (i.e.: attics, irregular/low ceilings, etc.) we recommend installing the Low Railing instead. This particular railing model will allow the height of the railing posts to be adjusted to the client's taste.
That depends. The railing kits are 78 3/4" long. You will have to calculate how many kits you need.
Yes. They have the exact same specifications as the initial structure.
Yes, you can add an extension to an existing mezzanine. You do not need to buy both structures at the same time.
No, the extension cannot be integrated and share columns. However, structures can be placed side by side and achieve continuity of the floor but you will not save any columns and there will be two columns together at the joints.

Tecrostar Mezzanines are movable assets referred to in Article 335 of the spanish Civil Code: “all the items that can be transported from one place to another without detriment to the property to which they were attached are considered as movable assets”
Moreover, the article 334.3 of the same code excludes Tecrostar mezzanines from the immovable property concept defining the later ones as “everything attached to the property in a fixed manner, that can not be separated from it without breaking the matter or deteriorating the object…”,
Every customer will have to make the opportune checks on the existing legal requirements of each country and/or region in regards to this type of structures. Aspects such as the use, the surface and the location of the mezzanine will need to be taken into account then.
FIRE RESISTANCE OF THE MATERIALS INCLUDED IN TECROSTAR MEZZANINES
Tecrostar mezzanines are formed by several pieces of different materials and coatings, therefore the classification of the fire resistance (reaction to fire) is different depending on the material. This fire reaction classification of the construction products and building elements is defined in the european standard EN 13501-1, commonly called Euroclasses.
The classification of each material type used in Tecrostar mezzanines is indicated down below:
Steel pieces without treatment | A1 |
Steel pieces black-painted 9005 (polyester powder paint) | A-s1,d0 |
Steel pieces white-painted 9010 (polyester powder paint) | B-s2,d0 |
Boards of the supporting floor. Structural chipboard for humid environment P5 (EN 312-P5) | D-s2,d0 |
FIRE STABILITY OF TECROSTAR MEZZANINES
Tecrostar metallic mezzanines have a bearing structure formed by columns, steel primary beams and steel secondary beams, as well as steel connectors and screws. This structure is not endowed with neither any type of passive protection nor intumescent treatment. Because of that, a fire stability greater than the one provided by the steel on its own is not guaranteed (no longer than 10 minutes, according to the literature related to steel construction).
The fire stability requirement of a mezzanine during a certain time will be determined by the usage of it (above and under it). It is the responsibility of the owner to comply with the current legislation applicable in the town where the mezzanine is located. Depending on whether the mezzanine is installed in an industrial environment or in a domestic atmosphere, on its size, location, etc. the regulation can or not demand a certain fire stability to that bearing structure.
You can consult with Tecrostar technical department for further information.
Our product is totally detachable and reusable. Therefore, it can be considered as movable property. This feature, always depending on each country’s current legislation, allows its use and installation inside any dwelling, garage, plot or industrial unit with no need for planning permission.
For instance, under the Spanish regulations, detachable mezzanines are considered as movable property, and they do not require planning permission in order to be installed.
Following this logic and due to the characteristics above mentioned, TecroStar mezzanines should not be catalogued as part of the built-up area. Hence, our platforms should be under the same legal regime as machinery, shelves, racks, vehicles, etc.
Regardless of this consideration, on each one of the projects the Client must check in advance whether the load capacity of the building where the mezzanine is to be installed is sufficient, as well as the most up-to-date current legislation.
In case of exercising the cancellation right of the order, the customer should inform Tecrostar in advance via email to info@mezzaninesonline.com or calling to our office within the customer service schedule. The name of the customer and the reference of the order should be provided.

Our production line is oriented towards quality criteria, paying special attention to safety and functionality. Thanks to the close contact with our customers, we observe lots of upgrades, new products and needs that allow us to keep on improving.
Firstly, we conduct a market research, analyzing social needs and demands and observing existing products. Then, we think about the different alternatives, related to the possible options to be developed, from which we choose the most appropriate procedure. To develop the idea, we take into account the providers involved and the time planning.
The next step is the pre-design of the product, with the realization of diagrams and plans, the definition of preliminary characteristics and the estimation of costs. Next, a feasibility study is carried out and the prototype is designed. Then, calculations and assembly are carried out, with prototype plans, cuttings, choice of materials and finishes. After these stages in the manufacturing process, this first product is tested to verify the validation. If everything is correct, the prototype request is made, the technical and assembly documentation is developed, the prototype tests are carried out and the tests and installation are carried out, observing the possible problems of operation and assembly.
Once again, a validation test is carried out again and, if all the conclusions are optimal, the product is standardized with technical and commercial procedures. In the last phase of the process, the cuts are made, the products are coded and the manuals are designed. Then the descriptions are written, the images are designed and the videos of the products are edited. Finally, prices are established and proceeds to the start of the sale.
